Ayia Napa is a treasure trove of ancient history, it's only in the last 20 years that tourism has made its mark and created a more prosperous region. Just 20 years ago Ayia Napa was a small fishing village with a population of only 200. The town is still proud of it's heritage though, and even today the old 16th century monastery is still one of its most famous tourist attractions. Marine Life Museum - The Marine Life Museum is located in the Ayia Napa Town Hall and was the first museum of its kind in Cyprus. The museum presents exhibits of marine fauna, birds, fossils, fish and other sea creatures of past and present. Waterworld Waterpark - An excellent waterpark. Entry is quite expensive but there is so much to do which will turn a visit to Ayia Napa's Waterworld into a full day's adventure. Many of the rides do have height restrictions, but younger ones are still catered for and there are still plenty to keep them occupied. Waterworld is located on Ayia Thekla Road, Ayia Napa. Follow the road beyond Nissi Beach and the waterpark will be clearly visible. Palaces - Located some way between Limnara beach and Cape Greco are the Palaces. Here, over thousands of years, amazing rock formations have been sculpted by the sea and its waves. The Palaces is the name give to the spectacular rock formations that create the illusion of fine architecture. Reached only from the sea, these amazing rock formations make a mystical sight as a contrasting backdrop to the crystal waters of the Mediterranean sea. The Palaces area a definite must see for anybody visiting Ayia Napa for a holiday. Dining Out In Ayia Napa - Cyprus Cuisine is a diverse blend of flavours collected from its myriad of influences throughout the island's history. Sapporo - Popular Japanese restaurant in Ayia Napa where the food is cooked before your eyes. The chefs and waiters are also more than capable of entertaining you with their showmanship while you wait for your food to be prepared.
